Carved by the erosive force of the Rio Flumineddu, Gorropu Gorge is Italy’s deepest canyon and one of the most spectacular in Europe. Its towering walls exceed 400 meters in height, enclosing a rugged and breathtaking trail. A must-visit for hikers from all over the world, it is also accessible to less experienced trekkers.

Drive through the Oddoene Valley to the Rio Flumineddu ford, then continue for 6 km on a dirt road to reach the trailhead.

Trekking descent of approx. 900 meters to the entrance of the canyon.

Along the way, walking along the riverbed, the Gorropu Gorge unfolds across three difficulty levels. In the first section, you’ll admire the narrowest and highest canyon walls, as well as unique endemic plant species.

Cala Luna is a natural monument of extraordinary charm, with a wild and unspoiled beauty. The cove lies at the mouth of the Rio Illune, a stream that for millennia has carved a long canyon, the Codula Ilune.

Drive along the panoramic road to Buchi Arta (with the possibility of visiting the old pinnettos used by the shepherds) to reach the trailhead.

The trekking begins with a descent along the old charcoal burners’ path, “S’Iscala ‘e s’Arga”, leading to the Codula Ilune, which takes you to the beach.

Sa Nurre de Su Hoda is located in the territory of Oliena, at the border with Dorgali, at the foot of Monte Tiscali. For a few weeks each year, a natural phenomenon illuminates the inside of the cave, creating an extraordinary spectacle!

Drive through the Lanaitho Valley with the off-road vehicles.

Upon reaching the trailhead, trek 900 meters through the Horojos Canyon to the cave entrance.

Equipped with caving helmets, safely enter the cave tunnel.

Once inside, explore the different chambers while waiting for the beam of light to emerge from the overhead opening.
Due to the sun’s tilt, this phenomenon begins in mid-May and ends in early September. In about 30 minutes, the cave transitions from absolute darkness to being fully illuminated.

The Tiscali village is a unique Nuragic settlement in terms of topography and architecture, nestled in a vast sinkhole. According to scholars, it was likely the last stronghold of the Late Nuragic people against the advancing Romans. Monte Tiscali, approximately 500 meters high, separates the Supramonte of Oliena and Dorgali. At the summit of the mountain lies the sinkhole, originally a karst cave. After the collapse of its ceiling, the interior became home to a variety of plants typical of the Mediterranean scrubland.

The Supramonte is a vast limestone and dolomitic mountain complex formed by carbonate plateaus that occupies the central-eastern part of Sardinia. Its immense and captivating expanse, covering 35,000 hectares, spans the territories of five villages: Dorgali, Oliena, Orgosolo, Urzulei, and Baunei.
In both itineraries, the landscapes will be breathtaking, with numerous sites of historical and natural interest. The lunch, featuring traditional roasts and local products from the Supramonte, will be preceded by a visit to the ancient shepherds’ huts.
